Hotel Růže Spa – Hotel Růže Wellness

The first mention of a spa in Český Krumlov can be found in a document from Petr I. of Rožmberk for the town of Český Krumlov from 1347. The spa stood on the site of today’s Linecká Elementary School, right near the river.

Another spa, named Pichler’s Spa, was established at the end of the 15th century in the area of town known as Latrán at house No. 1, adjacent to today’s Lazebnický (Barber’s) Bridge. The house is also known for its Český Krumlov legend of Don Julius d’Austria a krásné lazebníkově dceři Markétě Pichlerové.

The Rožmberks, the founders of the former Jesuit College which now serves as the Hotel Růže, were an enlightened ruling family. Their reign is associated not only with a period of great economic blossom in the town, but also with the local beginnings of humanism and the Renaissance. This brought about great changes in culture and art, as well as the prevailing philosophy of life. Even then, the Rožmberks understood the importance of a harmony of body and spirit, and not only the importance of education. For instance, Vilém of Rožmberk recognized the beneficial effects of spas, and his brother Petr Vok sought out the healing effects of spas. It is well known that the aristocracy regular took advantages of a spa healer, who at that time also served the role as barber. In addition to such standard bodily services such as washing, shaving, hair-cutting, manicures, and pedicures, they also used steam baths and muscle massages. At the first sign of illness or pain, not only the Rožmberk rulers visited the spa, but the local burgher residents as well.

Today, our hotel guests have the chance to visit the spa in Hotel Růže and try out its services just as the Český Krumlov burgher residents and clerical and noble officers once did, all taking advantage of the art of medieval spa healers.

Stop by for a while yourself, forget about your daily worries, and place yourself in the hands of our spa professionals. Enjoy a bit of relaxation in the bubble bath, let yourself be pampered by a massage, or try out a peat bath in wooden vats. You'll leave our spa feeling strengthened and refreshed.

Relaxation

Swimming pool

Take a swim on our 8-meter long relaxation pool with counter-current. The pool is about 150 cm deep, and the water is always 28° C.

Aqua aerobics

Aqua aerobics are aerobic exercises in water focused on increasing physical condition, reducing body weight, and shaping the body. The resistance of the water increases the intensity of the exercises and massages the muscles at the same time. The water environment also has a positive effect on the spine and joints. In contrast to other kinds of aerobics, water aerobics is completely shock-free, thus protecting both your joints and cardiovascular system.

One lesson last 20 minutes and is designed for a maximum of 8 persons. Call +420 380 772 412 or +420 380 772 100 for more information and to make an appointment for aqua aerobics.

Weight room

Our weight room is equipped with Technogym machines such as BIKE XT, STEP XT, and UNICA 70, and is free for hotel guests upon presentation of a hotel card. The weight room is open from 3:00 to 9:30 p.m. with no time limit on your visit.

Sauna

Our classic Finnish-style sauna offers relaxation for 4 persons at a time.

The benefits of saunas are based on the exchange of hot and cold environments. Saunas lead to an increase in the body’s resistance to aggressive factors and make it more endurant. Muscle tension is relaxed, and stress is released. Your body is also detoxified.

Do not enter the sauna on a full stomach or hungry, or after extreme physical activity.
To order the sauna, please allow one hour preparation time. Call at +420 380 772 412 or +420 380 772 100 .

Whirlpool

Immerse yourself into a bubble spa, let your everyday worries float away, and relax your stiff muscles. A whirlpool massage benefits the blood circulation and heart activity, lowers blood pressure, stimulates the immune system, and has a positive effect on your mind, releasing tension and pressures.

The recommended time for a whirlpool bath at 36-38 ˚C warm water is 15-20 minutes.

Massage

Massage therapy uses pressure on muscles and tissues to heal wounds, ease pain, relieve stress, improve circulation, and relax muscle tension.

Classic massage

The objective of classic massage is to relax the joints (head, neck, back, chest, arms and legs). It includes systematic movements such as kneading, rubbing, patting, vibrating, and the like to bring the recipient into a state of relaxation.
Regular massage can prevent the onset of acute stages painful blockades which are often a manifestation of long-term psychological stress.

Sport massage

After exerting yourself in sports, a sport massage pleasantly relaxes and regenerates your exhausted body.

Reflex massage

This type of massage works on the principle of stimulating points and areas on the hands and feet that are connected with certain parts of the body or organs. Pressure in the right location has a positive effect on the respective organs.

Honey massage

This old tried and true detoxification method takes advantage of the healing effects of honey and compressive massage touch.

If your body is exhausted by stress and an unhealthy lifestyle, if you suffer from insomnia, headaches, or joint ailments, try a honey massage. It also works well on aging or acne-damaged skin.

Chocolate massage

Chocolate massage is a great relaxation combined with the unforgettable scent of chocolate. It’s guaranteed to benefit not only your body, but your spirit as well. Its positive influence is provided by the antioxidants chocolate contains, working exceptionally well on aging skin. Chocolate massage has a positive effect on the heart and supports body detoxification. It also stimulates the creation of endorphins which bring about relaxation and a good mood.

Chinese energy massage

This type of relaxational massage has a very positive effect on the central nervous system and on most of the body’s organs. It provides a general relaxation and comfortable feeling. It is based in the renewal of the flow in 12 energy channels in the human body. Air pollution, impurities in drinking water, bad life management, stress, irritability, and negative thoughts burden the energy, the channels become blocked and create an environment for the emergence of ailments, first hidden, then open.

Chinese energy massage is done very slowly and brings about a pleasant relaxed feeling. It is suitable for those who suffer headaches and backaches due to their work tempo, are unable to concentrate, moody, and irritable. It is recommended for anyone who wishes to relax and support his/her own health.

Lymphatic massage

Lymphatic massage works with the body’s chylaceous system. The body’s lymph nodes remove the body of damaging and dangerous elements – toxins. The lymphatic system does not have its own “pump”, however. If it does not work correctly or if its activity is slowed down, remnants of the toxins remain in the tissue. Fat cells increase in mass, fat pillows are created, “orange” skin, and swelling occurs. A well-performed pressure massage helps activate the lymph nodes and remove the toxins from the body.

Massage also aids in the prevention of varicose veins, and is also effective in the fight against cellulite. It reduces swelling and tiredness of the legs and feet. This is not only an effective procedure, but also very pleasant.

Lava stone massage

This specific type of massage uses heated lava rocks which are placed on selected places on the body (chakras, energy channels, problematic stiff areas), or they are used directly for massaging. The slow heating movements have an extremely harmonizing and relaxing effect, stimulating circulation and the lymphatic system, and supporting the body’s detoxification.

Aroma massage

Aroma massage is a relaxation procedure that leads to the relaxation of the body and mind using delicate techniques and mixtures of the highest quality cold-pressed natural oils and essential oils. The scent of the plant’s essence has a positive effect on the body’s nervous system and emotions, supports the immune system, and stimulates the entire body’s healing process.

The aromatic oils have a deep and complex effect.

Aroma massage relaxes you, puts you to rest, refreshes you, warms and harmonizes you. The magnificent scent that passes through you will remain with you throughout the entire day.

Baths

The beneficial effect of a water bath lasts about 20 minutes. During this time the water serves as a source of energy for your body, then it begins to draw the energy out.

This is why our baths last for 20 minutes and are followed by relaxation in a wrap. This procedure also has its irreplaceable significance in the process. Without the wrap you would leave overheated in the middle of a healing procedure and could end up feeling more tired than before your visit began. It is for this reason that we offer baths only in combination with wraps. We also provide refreshing herbal beverages which are suitably supplemented with individual treatments.

Peat bath

A peat bath, using peloid extracts, has several healing, preventive, and cosmetic effects. It has a beneficial effect on the joint system, skin, hair and nails, nervous system, it positively effects conditions of anxiety and stress, and is excellent in the presence of other health problems.

Regenerational bath
This very aromatic bath is a balsam for your spirit and dissolves worries and problems. It also supports the regeneration of tired or damaged skin, protecting it against drying out, it renews the skins natural pH level, and makes it more supple. The oils used in the bath contain many nutritional minerals and vitamins.

Wraps

Our spa offers many types of wraps to choose from.

A body wrap is a procedure that actively vasculates, regenerates, breaks down fat cells, rids the tissue of excess water, aids in forming the figure, helps in better joint movement, relieves craps, and relaxes stiff muscles.

We recommend a combination of wrap and bath together – both mutually complement each other, and a wrap is a pleasant end to a complete healing and relaxational process.

Chocolate wrap

This wrap is a great stress reliever. It eases irritation and calms the skin, supplying it with valuable nutrients and moisture, effectively protecting it from premature aging which is usually a result of the damaging effects of the environment. It is also an excellent aid against cellulite.

Honey wrap

Natural honey has an exceptionally positive effect on the skin and the entire body. A honey wrap with salt from the Dead Sea moistens and softens the skin, and is also effective against cellulite. It provides the body with a large amount of mineral salts and vitamins. It regenerates the skin and leaves it smooth and firm. A honey wrap is a good preparation for sun tanning.

Peat wrap

Peat has dewatering properties and reduces cellulite. It has an anti-inflammatory effect, it purifies and moistens the skin, and also has antiseptic, healing, and purifying properties. It eases joint pain and gives your body a certain lightness.

Olive oil wrap

This type of wrap is a suitable method for fighting cellulite in any stage. It also works against dry and aging skin, and it relaxes and firms the skin. It is used in combination with basil which itself has regenerational and anti-inflammatory properties.

Soy and rice wrap

This is a special treatment for the skin of the face and body. It firms the skin, increases its elasticity, and stimulates the synthesis of collagens. Soy helps prevent the emergence of pigment stains and limits the growth of fat tissue beneath the skin. It also protects against UV radiation.

Firming wrap

We recommend this wrap when your skin has lost its suppleness, after birth, or in combination with weight-loss therapy.

Thinning and shaping wrap

This is a program that helps you lose those several extra centimetres after only a few procedures. The mask, consisting of Laminaria Digitata algae and sea mud stimulates the release of fats and toxins from the body. We recommend this wrap in combination with a wrap supporting skin suppleness or a similar focused massage.

Relaxation wrap

This program focuses on the renewal and increase of skin tone and removing physical and emotional tension. The wrap rids the epidermis of toxins and excess liquids, relieves muscle tiredness and provides the body with minerals.

Wrap for light legs

This wrap is designed for healing and preventing veinal insufficiencies. It reduces swelling, normalizes blood circulation, and detoxifies. It also relieves the muscles of cramps and aches. It brings about a “light leg” effect. It has long-term beneficial effects from systematic therapy.
